JumpStart Sudan mourns loss of Dennis Albers, friend, founder and
former treasurer |
|
|
Dennis Albers was a founding member of JumpStart
Sudan. He served on the board from 2002 to 2010 with six years as
Treasurer. The members of this board held a deep respect and affection for
Dennis and his wit, dry sense of humor and passion for helping the people of
Sudan.
In 2005 he accompanied JSS Executive Director Akot Arech to Sudan on a mission
trip and returned with stories of children who died waiting in line for medical
attention. He was particularly interested in providing humanitarian aid
there and hoped to return someday to do more. His work with JSS was
instrumental in the building of the clinic in Akon. |

The board voted to dedicate all projects and missions of 2011 to their friend
Dennis. Donations which have been received so far in memoriam for Dennis
will be used to purchase emergency medicine and medical supplies to be delivered
to the clinic. |

In April, Board Member Mary Arech hand-carried into Akon
approximately $2,000 worth of emergency supplies of antibiotics,
meningitis meds, cough syrup, anti-malarials, anti-diarrheals and
Oxytocin.
These critical supplies arrived, serendipitously, on what would have
been Dennis' birthday. |
