2002: JumpStart Sudan completes first mission
Akot Arec, Executive Director of JumpStart Sudan, and Dale Edwards
traveled to Akon to distribute medicine, blankets, school uniforms,
books and some clothing purchased from donations totaling over
$17,000 by Kansas City area churches and concerned residents.
Akot and Dale were able to provide 600 uniforms for the boys and
girls in the Akon school of 1,540. They were determined to return
someday soon with more uniforms for the children since, for many of
the children, the uniforms were their only decent clothing. Many of
the uniforms were too large for them allowing them to wear them for
several years. Akot and Dale also distributed Bibles and showed a Jesus film to
nearly four hundred people.
This was Akot's first reunion with members of his family since he
left Sudan as a child. |
