2006:
Fundraising begins for clinic
In order to raise money to begin construction of a small clinic in
Akon, Sudan, no mission trip was planned for 2006, and all funds were
allocated to the clinic project.
The efforts of the board focused on procuring blueprints and
cost projections for a clinic which would meet the basic health
needs of the community of Akon.The clinic project began
with the digging of a well to provide water for the clinic and to
serve as an additional water source for the community in the
meantime.
Akot
Arec, Executive Director, returned to Sudan to work as Personal
Assistant and Secretary to Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the
Government of Southern Sudan and the First Vice President of Sudan.
Working in Sudan, Akot was able to identify potential contractors
and other valuable contacts for the board.
