Brownback Clinic is serving patients!
Over the past two years, JumpStart Sudan worked with the
community of Akon, Sudan to make the
Samuel Brownback Clinic
a reality. It has already been put to good use while
still awaiting electrical and water hookup. The
construction of this facility was made possible by the
contributions of many donors, but the ground was broken in
January 2007 only after the last $50,000 needed came in at
the eleventh hour from a single unsolicited anonymous source.
Mission Trips 2008
Chris
"Koor" Garang, who was JSS Arizona Representative
from 2007 to 2008, traveled to Akon again to work in the clinic and to
help assess the people's health needs.
JSS President
Debra Ross visited the clinic this spring while Chris was
working alongside local health care workers and met with
staff from the Ministry of Health and local leaders to
discuss how the clinic can grow in its capacity to serve the
community.
Container Shipment Headed to Sudan
Additional building supplies, office furniture, medicine,
medical equipment and supplies and educational materials
are on their way in a container being
shipped to Sudan. Most of the goods were donated including
$1,500 worth of textbooks and religious materials purchased
with a gift card from another anonymous donor. |
